On May 5, 2011, librarians, board members and concerned citizens met at the State Capitol in Baton Rouge for the Louisiana Library Association’s Legislative Day.  The purpose of the event was to encourage legislators to remember libraries all over the state in their budgets.

“With cuts to education and hospitals, we knew it was important to remind our legislators how effectively public libraries serve the people,” said Barry Bradford, Director of the Tangipahoa Library System.

Lawmakers on the Municipal Committee include District 73 Legislator Steve Pugh who is pictured in the photo with Bradford and Bianca Roberts, Assistant Librarian for the Tangipahoa Parish Library System.  Not shown is Tangipahoa Parish Library Board Member Katherine Yeargain and Tangipahoa Parish community activist Antoinette Harrell.
