Tangipahoa Parish, La. On, Monday, March 19th Tangipahoa Parish Library received a $1,000 grant from Entergy for the two story Discovery Tree of the Children’s Room in the new Amite Branch Library, set to open later this year. The Discovery Tree will include computers with educational software, and during their exploration of the Discovery Tree, children can uncover these facts by opening doors and drawers to learn new things.

Your local Tangipahoa Parish library is not what it used to be, not by a long shot. Technology is at the forefront, with electronic book, or e-book,  services soon becoming available and laptop computers already available for checkout, as are audio books.  A new, modern, learning-themed library headquarters building with a "discovery tree" for the kids is under construction in Amite and should be opening in August or September.

AMITE, LA. On Wednesday, August 17th at 10:00am, Tangipahoa Parish Library System held a ground breaking celebration for the new Amite Library Branch at 204 Northeast Central Avenue in Amite. The ground breaking is the next step in the project, which has been planned for several years. The land for the new 21,000 square foot facility was purchased in September in 2009 and after years of preparation, Tangipahoa Parish Library System is ready to begin construction

On May 5, 2011, librarians, board members and concerned citizens met at the State Capitol in Baton Rouge for the Louisiana Library Association’s Legislative Day.  The purpose of the event was to encourage legislators to remember libraries all over the state in their budgets.

Amite Tangi Digest Story The house was shakin' on Tuesday, February 1, as the Amite Branch of the Tangipahoa Parish Library kicked off Black History Month with an interactive performance by the hip-hop group "Rhythm & Soul".
